    Description

Lot Of Two Russian Tearoom Restaurant Postcards By Artist Milton Glaser. Condition is "Used". The postcard of the man holding a pot over a flame reads on flipside "Ancient Slavic peoples worshipped the sun and at Spring solstice cooked his image, a round cake fried in butter. As a result the Blini came into Russian cuisine." On the flipside of the postcard of the couple it reads "Peter the Great was the first monarch to invite ladies to dine at his dinner table. He demanded that the women of his court adopt fashionable hair styles, stop coloring their teeth black, discard their veils and appear in decollete gowns. Peter the Great was fond of Dutch cheeses and meat served with fruit preserves." These postcards were obtained when we dined at the now legendary Russian Tea Room restaurant at 150 West 57th Street in New york City back in the 1970's. The postcards were designed by the famous artist Milton Glaser best known for the "I Love New York" logo, the psychedelic Bob Dylan poster and logos for DC Comics. Postcards are in excellent condition.Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
